Workshop 1

Connecting communities with community planning

Easing of COVID restrictions has given us the opportunity to take stock and review how we connect communities with community planning . We will briefly share our journey so far and then open up discussion to explore how we can improvement community engagement and encourage others to get involved.

Workshop 2

How to show impact in a digital world

This session explores the use of online and digital platforms and how community groups and third sector organisations can effectively utilise them to engage with the people they support and want to connect with.

ACVO’s Communications Officer, Andrew Davidson, will share knowledge around best digital practices and how digital tools and content creation can be used to reach audiences, share stories, highlight issues and foster a sense of community and place.

Workshop 3

Community resilience – we need you!

This session will explain the need and drive to create as many Community Resilience groups across Aberdeen City as possible; Fiona Mann the City Councils Emergency Planning and Resilience Lead who is launching and leading this campaign for Aberdeen City Council, will explain

  • what a community resilience group is (it could be added to an already established group)
  • how the council can assist you in forming one
  • what the benefits are to your community
  • and give examples of successful partnerships during recent incidents such as Storm Arwen.

The key to making and keeping our city safe and well prepared for emergencies such as the Pandemic, recent Storms and winter weather emergencies is to work together with the council and blue light services in partnership with our communities as you best understand your local needs, this approach enhances the Aberdeen city’s overall resilience.

Workshop 4

Funding and resources for community groups

The fundraising environment is changing rapidly and can seem overwhelming. This session explores how the way community groups and third sector organisations approach fundraising can make all the difference to their success and ultimate survival.

 ACVO’s Funding Officer, Claire Shaw, will help you to navigate the process of building a dynamic and effective fundraising strategy in an easy-to-understand way that is relatable to the third sector in Aberdeen City.  

 Following this introductory session, Claire would be delighted to meet with you online to provided further one-to-one support with writing and actioning your fundraising strategy.
