Help Children & Young People

How can your business help?

Support new mums to feel more comfortable breastfeeding in public by signing up to our Breastfeeding Friendly programme here in Aberdeen.

The Scottish Infant Feeding Survey 2017 identified that mums understood they could breastfeed in public areas however, almost half of the mums lacked confidence in doing so. Businesses can show support by joining the new scheme and display the logo which would provide reassurance a breastfeeding mum would be welcome. Find out more about how this contributes to our Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

Support the city’s efforts to become a ‘Child Friendly City’ by upholding and promoting the United Nations Convention on the Rights to the Child (UNCRC). We need businesses to uphold and promote the UNCRC through daily practices and approaches, particularly the guiding principles of:

  • Non-discrimination (Article 2),
  • Best interests of the child (Article 3),
  • Survival and development (Article 6) and
  • Participation (Article 12).
