The MCR pathways programme is now embedded in 6 of our academies.  We are already seeing the positive impact that this programme can have in supporting our disadvantaged and  Care Experienced Young people into positive destinations. We need your help to encourage more people to sign up to be a mentor.

If you’re a local business working in IT or digital, we need your help to encourage your future workforce to think about a career in this growth sector. We’re looking for your company to connect with a local school to increase awareness of career opportunities in the industry.  We will work with you on the engagement you provide to schools but this could be through workshops, talks or even work experience. Read the project charter to find out more about how this contributes to the Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

Support new mums to feel more comfortable breastfeeding in public by signing up to our Breastfeeding Friendly programme here in Aberdeen. 

The Scottish Infant Feeding Survey 2017 identified that mums understood they could breastfeed in public areas however, almost half of the mums lacked confidence in doing so. Businesses can show support by joining the new scheme and display the logo which would provide reassurance a breastfeeding mum would be welcome. Find out more about how this contributes to our Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

Support the city’s efforts to become a ‘Child Friendly City’ by upholding and promoting the United Nations Convention on the Rights to the Child (UNCRC). We need businesses to uphold and promote the UNCRC through daily practices and approaches, particularly the guiding principles of:

  • Non-discrimination (Article 2),
  • Best interests of the child (Article 3),
  • Survival and development (Article 6) and 
  • Participation (Article 12).

The Children and Young Person (Scotland) Act (2014) gives a duty to Public Bodies to uphold and further effect the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child (UNCRC) and the UNCRC is expected to be legislated into domestic law in Scotland within this parliamentary session.
