As you know, the environment that businesses are operating within could hardly be more uncertain. From the Covid-19 pandemic, transition to net zero, investor pressure on social license to operate, to future workforce.  Leaders are increasingly expected to respond to a myriad of priorities which might previously have been seen as non-core. Responsible Business is fast moving mainstream.  Aberdeen is fortunate to have an engaged business community who are proud of our city and routinely support a wide variety of causes across the economy. At a conference held in the city last year on corporate social responsibility, we heard about the “Power of the Collective”, in other words, how a coming together of businesses around shared goals could be transformational for our city.

Community Planning Aberdeen (CPA) is working in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC) to reach out to responsible businesses across Aberdeen who share our aspirations for better outcomes for people, families and communities.  Community Planning Aberdeen (CPA) is the strategic partnership for public services in the City, working to deliver the Aberdeen City Local Outcome Improvement Plan. Our vision is of Aberdeen as a place where all people can prosper, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Our first online event for responsible businesses was held on 8 October 2020 via Microsoft Teams. At this event we discussed a more joined up approach to how we can ensure a prosperous future for all, with breakout sessions on ‘Securing the future for Children & Young People’ or ‘Nurturing our Local Communities’. You can watch a recording of the event below.
