2024 COSLA Excellence Awards – Finalists
Two Community Planning Aberdeen projects chosen as part of the fifteen finalists for the 2024 COSLA Excellence Awards.
The following two multi-agency projects have had their improvements recognised in being selected as finalists.
Category 2: Achieving better outcomes for the most vulnerable in partnership
My Way To Employment – improved outcomes for people engaged in the justice system through the development of community and prison employability pathways and support.
Led by Angela Taylor, ACC and Nicola Graham, SDS. The project has been a successful collaboration between Aberdeen City Council, Skills Development Scotland, HMP Grampian, Greene King, CFine, DWP, NESCol and Third Sector partners.
Category 3: Tackling inequalities and improving health and wellbeing
Reaching Out to People at Risk and Removing Barriers to Accessing Drug Support – has made significant strides in increasing engagement with drug services through innovative developments focusing on individual needs. The project has also increased the supply of naloxone through non Drug and Alcohol services. Naloxone is a quick acting and safe medication which can reverse opioid overdose.
Led by Lucy Simpson, ACC, Simon Rayner, ACHSCP and Simon Pringle, Alcohol and Drugs Action (ADA). The project has been a successful collaboration between Aberdeen City Council, ACHSCP, Alcohol and Drugs Action, Alcohol and Drugs Partnership, Police Scotland, NHS Grampian.
As finalists, the projects will be invited to attend one of two judging days, as well as the awards ceremony in September.
